The Town will test its emergency notification systems at 12 p.m.
on the first Wednesday in January, May and September.
This system is managed by the Town of High River and will be used to issue alerts in the event of an emergency. You will receive time-sensitive messages to whatever device you choose:
- home phone
- mobile
- business phone
- text messages
- a mobile app
Alert messages can also be sent to you about incidents happening near your home, work, school, or other address locations you choose in your settings.
Starting July 15, 2015 – the High River Alert system has joined the Safe Communities Alert Network (SCAN) and subscribers will now be able to receive additional alerts from seven other municipalities in the Foothills region to better serve the region and provide critical information to more people.
Participating municipalities include:
- Black Diamond
- Longview
- MD of Foothills
- Okotoks
- Turner Valley
- Vulcan
- Vulcan County
Anyone who is currently signed up to the High River Alert system will NOT lose any of their account information or be required to re-subscribe. Nothing will change for current High River Alert users unless they choose to log in to their account and subscribe to receive additional alerts. Current users can easily customize their accounts based on the type of alerts they would like to receive and from which municipality.
